Custom Corner: Electro from Spider-Man: No Way Home

Spider-Man: No Way Home arrives in cinemas this week, and while the LEGO Group hasn’t been able to make any of the film’s villains in order to avoid spoilers, almost everyone in the Instagram community has made their own versions of them since the first trailer was released. This week’s Custom Corner from Blocks, the LEGO magazine for fans, spotlights one of the best ones out there.

Today’s figure, by @flint.customs, is a digital render, using a combination of official LEGO pieces and custom designed parts to recreate Jamie Foxx’s look from Spider-Man: No Way Home. The legs are from the T’Challa Star Lord Collectible Minifigure, but recoloured to represent the dark tan trousers and dark brown boots from his new costume. Similarly, the torso is originally from the most recent Doc Ock figure, although this has been very heavily edited, combining prints from several Iron Man figures to represent the makeshift armour and arc reactor seen on the film’s poster.

To get Blocks, the LEGO magazine for fans, every month – at a discount and earlier than the shops – order a 12-month or 24-month subscription. Direct debit payment options are available too; to find out more get in touch via subs@silverbackpublishing.rocks.

The arms feature dark green and reddish brown, a colour combination that doesn’t exist in physical form, and the hands are also presented in multiple colours. The LEGO Group doesn’t make official dual-moulded hands, as they would be too fragile to pass the company’s quality checks, but the concept is very popular in the rendering community. The wires running up the arms and the handcuff pieces merged into the figure’s shoulders are also impossible to recreate in real life, but add an incredible level of detail to the figure.

Finally, the figure’s mask is entirely designed by @flint.customs and would be impossible to attach in real life. It’s moulded in trans yellow, as it looks to be made purely from electricity in the film’s trailers. @flint.customs makes some of the best superhero figures on the platform, including versions of some other villains from No Way Home, so it’s definitely worth checking out their page.
