The latest LEGO Ideas challenge, Rebuilding Outdoor Adventures, has gone live and gives fans the chance to design a future LEGO gift with purchase set.
LEGO Ideas’ Rebuilding Outdoor Adventures challenge has just gone live, with a grand prize of seeing your model turned into an official gift with purchase LEGO set. The challenge is open now and you can submit your build through April 16.
This new challenge tasks builders with recreating their fondest outdoor memory with LEGO bricks. The trick for creating a winning model will be to personalise it; the scene represented should be an important memory that translates those special feelings into LEGO bricks. The goal is to create a keepsake item, something that tells your meaningful story and shares it with others.
As this will be a gift with purchase set (those free models you get for spending certain amounts on LEGO.com), the piece count for this challenge is fairly low and incredibly strict: models have to be between 200 and 250 pieces, to ensure that they all could work as a free gift.
Beyond the part count, rules for what you can build are standard for LEGO Ideas, except that no IP references are allowed — you can’t have anything referencing a LEGO theme or outside franchise in your model. It has to be entirely about you and the outdoors.

Upgrade your LEGO hobby! If you take out a subscription to Blocks, the monthly magazine for LEGO fans, you’ll get each issue first and at a discount, plus other perks including a free digital subscription and the chance to win LEGO prizes every month.
The grand prize is of course the honour of seeing your model become an official LEGO set, but that’s not everything the winner will receive. In addition, they’ll get a prize pack of LEGO Ideas sets: the recently announced 21368 Peanuts: Snoopy’s Doghouse, 21353 The Botanical Garden, 21366 Floating Sea Otters, 21376 Orange Cat and 60454 Holiday Adventure Camper Van. Plus, they’ll receive 10 complimentary copies of their own set.
As is typical of LEGO Ideas challenges, there will be a fan vote to decide on the winner. Fans will pick from a selection of models decided on by the LEGO Ideas team. Those who make it to the fan vote (which will be held between May 12 and 20) will receive a smaller prize pack that includes 21368 Peanuts: Snoopy’s Doghouse, 21366 Floating Sea Otters and 60454 Holiday Adventure Camper Van. Up to 15 builds can make it to the fan vote this time around, so if you submit a design, you have a decent chance of at least winning some free LEGO sets.
The grand prize winner will be announced by May 27. You can submit your build and read through the full guidelines (including all the legal stuff) over on the LEGO Ideas challenge page.
