The LEGO parts you need to build updated Town Extreme Team 6585 Hang-Glider

During the 1990s, the popularity of extreme sports exploded. The LEGO Group usually stayed away from cultural fads, but as the company tried new things and sought new consumers, it followed more trends.

One of the LEGO Group’s first experiments with tapping into the cultural zeitgeist was with Extreme Team in 1998. Despite the name, there wasn’t a skateboard or dirt bike to be seen. Instead, a variety of vehicles allowed team members to race, fly and sail at high speeds. There were also calmer options, such as 6585 Hang-Glider.

At the time of its release, the parts catalogue was much more limited. Unlike today, only a few wing shaped plates were available. Accordingly, this update is able to be much more detailed and dynamic thanks to plethora of wedge plates and sloped curves available, which can give the glider some thickness that is more accurate to those found in the real world.
