Fans have been waiting for the LEGO Group to release a Balrog since the theme’s first iteration back in 2012. The company has finally obliged with 10367 The Lord of the Rings: Balrog Book Nook, which ensconces the creature in a mixture of darkness and flame within its lair. However, you need not spend all of your dragon gold to obtain a satisfying rendition of the terrifying beast from Tolkien’s world.
There were two distinctive features of the Balrog to capture so that this build feels authentic to the source material. The first is its horned head, which is accomplished through a variety of clips and bars along with Exo-Force arms to get all of the angles correct. The second is the creature’s glowing whip that ends up causing so much trouble for Gandalf. Fortunately, the LEGO Group casts their long chain element in transparent orange, the perfect element for this model.
