‘Yeh always wait fer the Hippogriff ter make the first move.’ 76428 Hagrid’s Hut: An Unexpected Visit is the latest version of the groundskeeper’s abode. Famous for his love of animals, past Hagrid’s Hut sets have included an array of magical creatures. While this year’s is no different, Buckbeak the Hippogriff is notably absent – that means it’s time to grab some bricks and build the character.
The trickiest part of Buckbeak to recreate is the head. It needs to be the right shape, with details pointing in all directions, but also not too big. This requires some clever use of modified bricks with studs facing in different directions. It is essential to not mirror both sides mirrored and instead allow the round plates with a single stud in their centre to hold things in place. Tricks like this are often needed when building creatures at a smaller scale, where every part counts.
This Buckbeak build is super poseable and large enough for minifigures to ride on his back. Once you have built this Fantastic Beast, try creating some of the other mythical creatures for Hagrid to befriend.
