Would you like to build a mini version of LEGO Arctic 6586 Polar Scout? Then here is a list of all the pieces you need to build the villainous home!
The early 2000s were a time of experimentation for the LEGO Group. Historically there had only been a few themes, but suddenly there was an explosion of new locations for minifigures to explore. One such blink-and-you-missed-it theme was Arctic. Long before it became a staple of the City exploration family of sets, minifigures conquered the arctic looking for fallen meteors while avoiding polar bears.
6586 Polar Scout was one of this theme’s entry level sets, sporting the distinctive orange colour scheme that has been used in such models ever since, paired with a neon blue window.
Like many late 1990s themes, Arctic was constructed using a variety of larger pieces intended to simplify and speed up the building experience. 6586 contains only 56 parts, with the entire front of the snowmobile consisting of a single orange element that forms both its nose and sides. This was the beginning of the shape family of elements that would go on to evolve a host of double curves and other complex shapes to better capture spaceships in Star Wars.
Recreating the shape for this build is more challenging than you might expect due to its double-sloped shape. To resolve this, the build uses a series of different sized sloped curves at varying angles.
The instructions for building the model are in Blocks, the monthly LEGO magazine, Issue 126. You can buy the magazine here. If you subscribe to Blocks, you’ll get at least three new sets of LEGO build instructions in every monthly edition!
Blocks, the monthly LEGO magazine, provides exclusive instructions for models you won’t find anywhere else. You can follow the instructions closely and build the exact model shown, or take them as inspiration to build something similar but unique. Either way, these builds are a great way to learn techniques and upgrade your LEGO building skills.
