All aboard the Going Merry – fun sized. The Straw Hat Pirates’ first beloved ship from ONE PIECEhas made its brick debut; but you probably can’t have it on display all of the time, so here’s a mini version that is perfect for a desk or bookshelf.
This miniature model is the perfect excuse to relive the crew’s early adventures and yell “I’m gonna be King of the Pirates!”
The most challenging part of this vessel at this scale are the sails. As well as the stripes, there should be a jolly roger insignia with a straw hat. In many attempts to recreate that, nothing looked right. When building in miniature, sometimes you must recognise when something can only be done in a way that will end up detracting from rather than enhancing the model. By contrast, the sheep figurehead can be built a smaller size yet remain recognizable.
