6090 Royal Knight’s Castle from 1995 remains one of the largest and most iconic LEGO castles ever. It is part of the collection that introduced the king, with his shiny crown and fancy steed.
One of the greatest challenges in creating this miniature version is capturing the sense of elevation that the original achieves using a raised baseplate. This is solved by layering green sloped elements to lift the castle walls and suggest the hilltop setting.
Capturing the proportions and distinctive colour blend of the main towers and walls is also difficult, as the original combines black and grey throughout. Use curved tiles for windows and 1×1 round plates for towers, which helps to evoke the mixed textures and create a convincing impression even without the same complex colour blending of the actual set.
