The LEGO parts you need to build a mini 6198 Sting Ray Stormer

Would you like to build a mini version of LEGO Aquazone 6198 Sting Ray Stormer? Then here is a list of all the pieces you need to build a mini take on the set!

The underwater world of Aquazone was the battleground of the Aquanauts and Aquasharks, until 1998, when a new pair of opposing factions were introduced. According to the lore, the hydrolator crystals – that provided essential oxygen to the underwater futurists – were becoming scarce. Only the Hydronauts has the tech to find the increasingly rare resource.

Their rivals were the Stingrays, mutant humans who stole from the scientists and travelled through the ocean in 6198 Sting Ray Stormer.

The massive set was designed to look like the creature it is named after. Shrinking it down proves to be a challenge as the proportions are hard to mimic at such a small scale. The tail is particularly tricky as it needs to both be articulated and in proportion with the rest. The solution are clips and bars, which allow for the correct amount of movement. The cover to the original cockpit was neon green, but lime green, a colour that didn’t exist back in 1998, is a suitable alternative.
