The truth is in Blocks, the monthly LEGO magazine, as Issue 143 celebrates the arrival of the LEGO The X-Files set with exclusive interviews, creative inspiration, expert reviews and plenty more for LEGO enthusiasts.

It is a project that has been years in the making – fan designer Brent Waller first created a build inspired by the iconic television series a decade ago. After several false starts, his dogged determination has finally paid off, with his product idea now an official LEGO set.
Brent shares the story behind the set in an exclusive interview, but such a long-awaited model deserves something extra special. The X-Files creator Chris Carter discusses the beloved series, his memories of crafting it, its enduring legacy and why the show focused on life’s biggest questions. Then William B. Davis, who played the mysterious Cigarette-Smoking Man, reveals what it was like to portray one of television’s most memorable villains.

Issue 143 also explores one of the most fundamental questions about the LEGO System: why is it so enjoyable to play with?
Jess Uhre Rahbek, a professor specialising in play, discusses his new book, This is Why You Love LEGO. It might be the most original book about the brick ever written, as Jess focuses on the actual experience of creative building, drilling down into the key details that make it so satisfying. It will give you a perspective that you mind not have considered before.
Given that Jess has worked with the LEGO Foundation and LEGO House, he has some serious credentials for covering this subject.
New inspiration for your LEGO builds
Blocks is expanding its Create section in Issue 143, introducing new pages designed to get builders thinking about their next project.
Discover techniques to kick-start a new build, follow a guide to creating a mech that you can customise however you like, experiment with a distinctive style of building using cheese slopes and find plenty of other ideas to inspire your own LEGO creations.
