LEGO The Smurfs set officially announced

A new LEGO set inspired by The Smurfs is expected in 2026 or 2027, marking the first time that the lovable blue characters have been delivered through the Danish bricks.

LEGO The Smurfs is on the way, so fans of the comics or animated series will be able to build the village where Papa Smurf, Smurfette and Brainy Smurf go about their Smurf lives.

A LEGO fan who goes by the username Half Blood Baron submitted a digital build of Smurf Village to LEGO Ideas, a platform where creative people can suggest future products. 10,000 fellow suers voted for the concept and now the LEGO Group is hard at work turning the idea into an official product that everyone will be able to buy.

“The Smurfs was one of my favourite comics during my childhood and I hope to bring this feeling of nostalgia for the franchise into LEGO,” said Half Blood Baron.

Their version of the model (which will change as the professional LEGO designers work on it) features a bridge, four houses and a piece of lake. Each house captured the cartoony feel of The Smurfs.

Peyo created The Smurfs for Belgian comic books and they debuted in 1958. They proved popular and were soon merchandised. They found greater international fame though in the 1980s. Hanna-Barbera Productions adapted the characters for an animated television series that ran for 256 episodes. In the show, characters like Papa Smurf, Smurfette, Brainy Smurf, Handy Smurf and Grandpa Smurf live in the Smurf Village, which the LEGO set will be inspired by.

The fan model features 14 Smurf characters: Papa Smurf, Brainy Smurf, Clumsy Smurf, Handy Smurf, Jokey Smurf, Sleepy Smurf, Grouchy Smurf, Harmony Smurf, Hefty Smurf, Chef Smurf, Smurfette, Vanity Smurf, Farmer Smurf and Baby Smurf. With so many Smurfs to choose from, it will be interesting to see which are included in the final model. Half Blood Prince also suggests including the villainous Gargamel and Azrael, his cat.

The LEGO Ideas Smurf Village set is likely to launch in 2026 or early 2027. Five more sets have been announced alongside this one – E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial, Downton Abbey, La Catrina, Ramen and Go Go Power Rangers! Megazord. Three more, Daft Punk Concert, The Old Man & The Sea and The Golden Girls have been put into the Parking Lot for further consideration.
