LEGO Icons has revealed 11389 Project Hail Mary, inspired by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller’s movie adaptation of Project Hail Mary, coming in March 2026.
LEGO Icons 11389 Project Hail Mary will come with 830 pieces, 1 minifigure and retail for £99.99 / $99.99 / €109.99, releasing on March 1, 2026, ahead of the film’s premiere on March 20. It may even be available to preorder ahead of time at LEGO.com.
Project Hail Mary is a new sci-fi film from The LEGO Movie directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller based on the novel by Andy Weir. Ryan Gosling plays Ryland Grace, an astronaut who awakens on a spacecraft with no memory of who he is or why he is there.
One-off movie inspired sets used to get their own themes but have largely found their home in LEGO Icons in recent years, which allows more films to receive sets, as they don’t need a full wave’s worth of content. Such a tie-in is perfect for something like Project Hail Mary, which has just one central character, played by Ryan Gosling, navigating a solo mission aboard his spacecraft after losing his crew. And it’s that ship and character that get the LEGO brick treatment in 11389 Project Hail Mary.

The main attraction of the set is a microscale recreation of the film’s spacecraft, the Hail Mary. Solar panels stick out to either side, making nice use of sloped grill elements in metallic silver. The bulk of the ship is then created using a mix of slopes and circular elements to capture its smooth shaping.
A fair bit of the set’s 830 pieces are used to build a stand for the ship, but it’s not all just for static show; there’s a feature built into the stand that sends the crew module into orbit around the main spacecraft, simulating a centrifugal gravity system. Like many 18+ display models, there’s also a little plaque at the bottom providing some information about the model.
The set includes just one proper minifigure: Ryland Grace. This makes sense given the story’s premise of Ryland being the sole survivor of his crew, but just like he’s not truly alone in space, nor is he in the set. There’s a brick-built figure of Rocky, the alien character that Ryland encounters. Rocky looks to get a new printed element for some added detail but otherwise uses fairly standard parts.
Rocky’s inclusion is a bit of a spoiler ahead of the film’s launch, especially for those hoping to go into the film totally fresh, but as the trailer already revealed the alien’s involvement, it’s a bit of an open secret that Rocky will appear.
Notably, this is Ryan Gosling’s first-ever LEGO minifigure. That sounds borderline unbelievable for the superstar actor, who has appeared in beloved films like La La Land, Barbie, Drive and countless others. But with none of those easily translating to a LEGO set, Gosling never had his chance to become a minifigure. Fans of the actor will now have a specialised Ryan Gosling face to use for his other characters — so long as they also have a beard. The other option is to wait until the inevitable wave of sets inspired by Star Wars: Starfighter arrives next year.
The figures can either be placed on the stand or on a small side build constructed at minifigure scale.
