A highlight of Nautica was the theme’s brick-built ships. Whether it was the police boat from 6540 Pier Police, one of the many coast guard vessels or the cargo ships from the theme’s largest sets, sailing vehicles were Nautica’s centrepiece. Because they were usually just one aspect of a set, these boats tended to be constructed of elements rather than being built on floating, moulded hulls. This allowed them to exist at a unique scale that wasn’t quite small but not large either. That style of construction has largely vanished in recent years, making it the perfect time to demonstrate how to build one.
