What LEGO sets do fans need from K-Pop Demon Hunters?

As everyone is obsessing over the Saja Boys and K-pop groups are covering the songs from the movie, Blocks looks at the LEGO sets fans would love to see from the Netflix hit.

LEGO KPop Demon Hunters sets are on the way! But what shouild they be? Blocks Features Writer Kat gives her take on what the new theme should offer…

KPop Demon Hunters has become the summer sensation on Netflix with its incredible music and animated choreography. As Rumi, Zoey and Mira aim to restore the sacred Honmoon and banish demons through the power of their voices, they are pitted against the increasing popularity of the Saja Boys – a rival group who are actually demons in disguise. It’s a story about friendship and finding yourself, with references to K-dramas and goofy moments provided by the cutest animated tiger to ever exist.

It’s a perfect example of a film that deserves its own range of sets – a LEGO KPop Demon Hunters theme would be great fun and would fit the bill for appealing to new markets. Blocks has already listed the perfect LEGO models to buy and customise to feed your Huntr/x obsession and now, as it continues to dominate the K-pop and streaming charts, Blocks, the monthly LEGO magazine, is heating up our ramyeon to list some of the best parts of the movie that should become LEGO sets…

How it’s Done

Huntr/x are so successful within the K-pop industry that they have their own private jet with a custom paint job of their logo. It’s part of an incredible opening sequence as demons attack the girls and they show off their fighting skills while prepping their mascara and lipstick for a performance. A model of the plane could follow a similar style as 41429 Heartlake City Airplane, which featured a colourful, open interior for play. There would need to be a couch, pots of ramyeon and the demonic cabin crew.

“Couch, couch, couch!”

After touring their latest album and keeping demons in check, all Zoey and Mira want to do is relax at home with snacks and facemarks. But what the girls call home is actually a massive apartment in the heart of Seoul. This location would make for an incredibly detailed set for roleplay if it featured the open plan living room, Rumi’s bedroom, Mira’s recording studio and perhaps most importantly, the wall of costumes that the girls wear at different performances – it puts Iron Man’s armoury to shame.

“I made it for the tiger, but the bird kept stealing it”

Derpy and Sussie have broken the internet with their adorableness. The pair provide plenty of comedy and magical rides along the Han River as they accompany Rumi and Jinu. LEGO designers seem to have perfected the style of brick-built characters through 43249 Stitch and 10375 How to Train Your Dragon: Toothless, then creating a blue tiger should be very achievable. The most important element is Derpy’s expression with his large yellow eyes and oversized canines. A miniature Sussie could be the accompanying mini-build, wearing a traditional Korean gat that was originally meant for Derpy.

Naksan Park

One of the many real locations from KPop Demon Hunters is Naksan Park, which is renowned for its walking trails and mural covered walls. A little set featuring part of the park and its iconic walls would be the perfect model to include exclusive versions of Rumi and Jinu as they come to understand each reveal the scars they’ve carried for years (or centuries in Jinu’s case). It would also be a great opportunity for the designers to focus on the authentic Seoul landscape and not just the fantastical parts of the film.

I can be your idol

During the finale, when the villainous Gwi-Ma tries to destroy the Honmoon, the Saja Boys put on a performance to literally steal souls. It’s dramatic and takes place in front of the iconic N Seoul Tower. A set for this scene could feature a stage for the Saja Boys, complete with pink lighting, and exclusive version of the group in their darker, demon attire. There could also be plenty of play features to mimic how the girls take them down, from Rumi’s oversized sword to Zoey hurtling Mystery into the air.

And that’s how the LEGO designers could do a Takedown of K-Pop Demon Hunters and make sets that are Golden (yes, we’re still going with the title tracks).
