Taking a look at LEGO BrickLink Designer Program Series 5

Blocks, the monthly LEGO magazine, takes a look at the various BrickLink Designer Program Series 5 sets that are about to go up for preorder. Graham and Daniel provide commentary on all five – 910052 Popcorn Wagon, 910050 Antique Shop, 910051 Mushroom Village, 910053 The Thieves of Tortuga and 910049 Adventure in Transylvania.

Graham and Daniel are talking about the amazing sets that are coming in BrickLink Designer Program Series 5. The new collection of fan-designed LEGO sets will go live for preorder on June 10, 2025, at 4pm BST / 11am EST.

It’s a varied bunch of LEGO sets, covering horror, pirate islands, everyday life and a fantastical world of the forest floor. The five new models are 910052 Popcorn Wagon, 910050 Antique Shop, 910051 Mushroom Village, 910053 The Thieves of Tortuga and 910049 Adventure in Transylvania.

During the conversation, Blocks Editor Graham E. Hancock and The Secret Life of LEGO Bricks author Daniel share their thoughts on each of the sets.

910050 Antique Shop

ThatOneGuySteve’s 910050 Antique Shop comes with 1,918 pieces and costs $149.99. The shop is a two-storey building with pointed roof and comes covered in plenty of foliage.

“If you picture a little antique shop out in a small town in your head, you’ve pictured this set. It’s really amazing how quintessential it is,” says Graham.

910051 Mushroom Village

Jonas Kramm’s whimsical LEGO model of a mushroom village features colorful buildings, a large flower and various plant elements. The scene includes several minifigures engaged in different activities around the fantasy setting.

“They look so happy – this actually looks like a place you’d want to shrink down and love in yourself,” says Daniel.

910052 Popcorn Wagon

The smallest of the Series 5 sets, Mictur’s 910052 Popcorn Wagon is a quaint, 594-piece model priced at $54.99. The build is as-described, primarily featuring a popcorn wagon ready to serve its eager customers some freshly popped treats.

“I really like this one because it has a fair feel to it and the fairground theme within the LEGO catalogue is one of my long-running favourites and this just feels like it will fit it,” says Daniel.

910053 The Thieves of Tortuga

910053 The Thieves of Tortuga, designed by Krackenator, offers 4,002 pieces for $339.99. The cobbled streets set the mood for the Pirates inspired model brilliantly, and the many different buildings, while small, create an excellent sense of place and make Tortuga feel like it’s a bustling pirate hub.

“Going back to the classic Pirates days of the LEGO Group, I always felt like the bases were so small in comparison to the ships,” says Daniel. “Finally with this one it feels like yes, a ship could pull up to this and it would not seem too small.”

910049 Adventure in Transylvania

910049 Adventure in Transylvania just beats out The Thieves of Tortuga as the largest set from Series 5, with 4,056 pieces and a price of $349.99. Eerie, spooky and creepy all feel like they’re not quite the right word to describe just how ominous this build is.

“All of the little subtle architectural details – I’m in love with that curved tower there, it just seamlessly blends and anytime you can do a curve in a LEGO build it just immediately elevates it,” says Daniel.

If you’re interested in purchasing any of the BrickLink Designer Program Series 5 sets, preorders will go live on June 10, 2025, at 4pm BST / 11am EST, with a limit of two of each set per customer. Sets that clear the 3,000 order minimum will then ship later this year, currently estimated as October.
