LEGO Disneyland 43302 Main Street USA unveiled

The LEGO Group is launching a new Disneyland themed set on June 1, the almost-4,000-piece 43302 Main Street USA that pays tribute to Walt Disney’s original theme park and includes theme park favourites like the Dapper Dans.

LEGO Disney is taking inspiration from the iconic theme parks once again, with Disneyland 43302 Main Street USA delivering the familiar land that welcomes visitors to the Anaheim destination.

43302 Main Street USA will launch on June 1 at LEGO.com. It is made up of 3,899 pieces and retails for £319.99 / $399.99 / €349.99.

When visitors enter Disneyland – and many other Disney theme parks – they are introduced to the richly themed environment via Main Street USA, an idealised depiction of a small American town, as envisioned by Walt Disney himself.

Several iconic shops are depicted in the sizable set, which creates a section of Main Street. The model builds the Fire Station, Disneyland Emporium, Crystal Arcade and Jewellery Shop. They are small, façade-style buildings with shallow interiors, rather than fully enclosed buildings. Additionally there’s a popcorn stand and fire truck to build.

The set includes a host of Disney themed minifigures – Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse are expected, but the Dapper Dans are a nice surprise for Disneyland devotees. The barber shop quartet have regularly performed on Main Street throughout the day since their introduction in 1959.

Seven tourist minifigures are included, each wearing clothing depicting Disney characters – Mickey, Ray from The Princess and the Frog, Stitch, Flounder from The Little Mermaid, Alien from Toy Story, then Spider-Man from Marvel and Stormtrooper from Star Wars.

Bespoke pieces help to capture the quirks of a visit to a Disney theme park, including a special component that gives a balloon a distinctive Mickey shape, Mickey hats (a classic piece of attire from the 1980s) and Minnie ears (an essential accessory for women visiting the parks today).

Walt Disney kept an apartment above the Fire Station and the LEGO Group says that the set includes a representation of that space. Throughout the shop areas there are references to theme park attractions and movie characters, including Sleeping Beauty’s Castle, Jungle Cruise, the Haunted Mansion, Wall-E, The Little Mermaid, Cinderella and Beauty and the Beast.

Although an 18+ set, the model seems to have been crafted with play in mind, so fans should look to the Modular Buildings Collection for a fuller townhouse display.

For Disneyland fans, this set will appeal thanks to its faithful attention to authentic details, but Disney World visitors may be frustrated that the model is so specific to the original park. All of the different iterations of Main Street USA are based on the Anaheim original, so it makes sense for the LEGO Group to focus on where it all started.

There have been a number of sets through the years inspired by Disneyland and Disney World, including 43222 Disney Castle, 71044 Disney Train and Station, 40720 Mini Disney Sleeping Beauty Castle and 40521 Mini Disney The Haunted Mansion.
