LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight coming in 2026

The next new LEGO game from TT Games has finally been announced – LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight.

LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight will be the next LEGO video game that ties into a big franchise, the first from TT Games since 2002’s LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. LEGO Batman: The Videogame was the fifth ever brick-based game from the developer back in 2008, so this is a return to a character that TT Games has form with.

The game is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 system and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store in 2026. If you don’t want to wait that long to get your digital brick fix, LEGO Party! is arriving in just a few weeks.

TT Games is collaborating with publisher Warner Bros. Games and the LEGO Group on the title, which promises to take inspiration from the full 86 year history of the character – including comic books, movies, television shows and games. Naturally there will also be a comedic spin on the story that will see Batman go from his early days training with the League of Shadows through to being Gotham’s guardian.

“Whether he’s the wrathful Dark Knight, the brilliant detective, or the unlikely father of the ‘Batfam,’ Batman has constantly evolved—shaped by the world around him while remaining a timeless symbol,” says DC President, Publisher and Chief Creative Officer Jim Lee. “This game brings together nearly every facet of his legacy, letting you experience the full range of what makes Batman iconic. Built with incredible care, creativity, and deep respect for the mythos, TT Games has crafted a love letter to the world of Batman.”

“All of us at TT Games are incredibly proud to reveal LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, a brand-new game that’s a real celebration of everything Batman,” says TT Games Strategic Director & Head of Development Team Jonathan Smith, who has been part of the developer since it was founded for LEGO Star Wars in the early 2000s.

“We take players on Bruce Wayne’s epic journey to become the legendary hero of Gotham City, incorporating iconic moments from across Batman’s history with our special LEGO twist. Our all-new crime-fighting combat features are amazing fun and take LEGO gameplay to an entirely new level.”

The story campaign will see players in the role of Bruce Wayne and Batman, meeting allies including Commissioner Gordon, Robin, Nightwing, Batgirl, Catwoman and Talia al Ghul. Villains promised to appear include The Joker, The Penguin, Poison Ivy, Ra’s al Ghul and Bane – but knowing how expansive the character roster tends to be in these games, fans should assume that this is merely a tease of a much larger cast.

“We are thrilled to announce LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, a fantastic new game designed to entertain and provide enjoyment for every type of player,” says Warner Bros. Discovery President and CEO Streaming & Games JB Perrette. “Our remarkable team at TT Games is working hard to deliver a fresh take on the beloved Batman universe, offering new and improved features beyond previous LEGO games that will excite both longtime fans and gamers of all levels.”

The combat system has been reimagined for this title, yet incorporates some familiar features from the classic LEGO Batman games – fluid attack chains, counters and over-the-top takedowns. Accessories such as the Batarang and Bat-claw will once again be usable as both tools and weapons.

There will also be the option for local co-op, with buddy characters having their own specific devices – Jim Gordon has a foam sprayer, Robin has a line launcher and Catwoman of course has her trusty whip.

For experienced or mature gamers, there will be an enhanced difficulty mode called ‘Caped Crusader’ and an even more challenging ‘Dark Knight’ difficulty level.

As fans have come to expect from TT Games titles, an open world Gotham City will be packed with crimes to stop, puzzles to solve, rewards to collect. To find them all, players will need to take the Caped Crusader down every alleyway and on every rooftop. As well as travelling on foot, characters will be able to use grapple launchers, Batgliders or choose from a range of Batmobiles.

The Batcave will be customisable, with spaces to display vehicles, trophies and collectibles. It will also be the place to select from an array of wearable Batsuits based on past Batman related media. Players can unlock the Golden Age Batsuit inspired by Detective Comics #27 (1939) by signing up for a WB Games account.

“This is a Batman game that fans will instantly connect with,” said Fredrik Löving, Senior Vice President and Global Head of GAME, The LEGO Group. “Our partners at Warner Bros. Games, TT Games, and DC have created an experience that delivers the style, intensity, and authenticity of Gotham City’s greatest hero, infused with the family-friendly fun of the LEGO brand, making it an exciting experience for LEGO Batman fans old and new.”
