The LEGO Group and the Van Gogh Museum have unveiled the Yellow House made of LEGO bricks at the museum, a structure made of 100,000 LEGO bricks and filled with Van Gogh history.
As part of the ongoing collaboration between the LEGO Group and the Van Gogh Museum that goes beyond 31215 Vincent van Gogh — Sunflowers, the partners revealed the Yellow House made of LEGO bricks at an exclusive event on June 18. The structure now joins the museum through September 28, 2025, to teach fans about Vincent Van Gogh’s life story and the process that led to the famous Sunflowers painting.
A total of 182,109 LEGO bricks have gone into the build, which is divided into five separate rooms, each telling a different chapter of Van Gogh’s story. The build is framed on three sides by striking yellow walls, complete with windows and doors, and comes topped with a peaked roof. What would be the last wall gets cut out to reveal the inside, which is decorated with vignettes that do a wonderful job of showcasing Van Gogh’s story without words (though handy captions are provided underneath to help out).

“The installation represents a new highlight in our collaboration with the LEGO Group,” said Managing Director of the Van Gogh Museum Rob Groot. “It offers a unique way to experience the stories behind Van Gogh’s masterpieces and connects art with the creativity of LEGO bricks in a very accessible way.”
The Yellow House made of LEGO bricks tells the tale of Van Gogh’s time in Arles, France, where he was first inspired by the colourful gardens. The middle sections celebrate his process, showing him in his rooms and sitting with his easel, as well as with his friend, Paul Gauguin. The five rooms culminate in the finished Sunflowers hanging proudly.
Van Gogh enthusiasts can visit the Yellow House made of LEGO Bricks at the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam through September 28, 2025. The display will then be moved around to the LEGO House in Billund and LEGO World in Utrecht, Netherlands.
Guests who come to see the brick-built display can also participate in two special workshops: Say it with Flowers teaches about the symbolism of flowers across different cultures and lets guests build their own bouquet, and Building and Chatting gives guests the opportunity to building LEGO sets while talking about art, creativity and connection via conversation cards.
These workshops and the display of the Yellow House made of LEGO bricks is part of the collaboration between the LEGO Group and the Van Gogh Museum, which began earlier this year with 31215 Vincent van Gogh — Sunflowers.
