It’s 25 years since LEGO Star Wars launched as the first ever licensed LEGO theme and there are new sets with special bricks to mark the occasion.
To coincide with Nuremberg Toy Fair, the LEGO Group is unveiling a selection of new LEGO Star Wars sets that will be part of the 25th anniversary of the beloved theme. The theme launched in 1999 to coincide with the release of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace.
Most of the sets that have been announced are small scale models of ships from the saga, scaled for display, not minifigures:

“The LEGO Star Wars collaboration has enjoyed a most impressive 25 years with products, video games, animated content, big builds, merchandise, and more! We want to celebrate all those years and milestones with everyone who helped us get here, but especially with the fan community as we would never be where we are today without their creativity and passion,” says Mike Ilacqua, Head of Product at the LEGO Group.
On March 1, fans will able to enter the LEGO Star Wars 25-Second Film Festival by submitting their own little video featuring LEGO Star Wars sets and/or minifigures.
“It’s been 25 years of true fun combining Lucasfilm’s expansive Star Wars galaxy with the ingenuity of the LEGO Group, offering fans exciting ways to recreate their favourite scenes, vehicles and characters from our stories,” says Paul Southern, Senior Vice President, Lucasfilm Franchise and Licensing, Disney Experiences. “With the enthusiasm of our fans to engage with the Star Wars galaxy and express creativity through building, we look forward to continuing the legacy of fun for decades to come.”
There will be much more to come throughout the year, including an updated edition of LEGO Star Wars: The Visual Dictionary, which comes with an exclusive new minifigure. It’s currently available for pre-order and will be released in April 2024.
