Spider-Man: No Way Home has been causing just a bit of a stir online. It’s been one of the most anticipated films of the year, which can prove a double-edged sword for LEGO fans – there’s the hope that sets will follow but, to avoid spoilers, such sets tend to be delayed beyond the film’s initial release.

So far, we’ve only had 76185 Spider-Man at the Sanctum Workshop, a perfectly serviceable set that doesn’t quite get to the true meaning of the film. For Blocks, the LEGO magazine for fans, I’ve been having a bit of a think about five sets that we’d like to see based on Spider-Man: No Way Home.
With that comes a very large spoiler warning: I’m going to be delving into lots of key moments, locations and characters from the film. Go and watch the film and then return to Blocks and read this article.

Escape the Lizard
Suggested price – £15
Every wave needs a small set, and this one seems ideal. Here’s the pitch; based on the scenes outside of Happy Hogan’s flat, the Lizard will be breaking out of a van and in his way will be none other than the thunderous J. Jonah Jameson. An Iron-Spider Spider-Man (Tom Holland, that is) however is on hand to save the man who is very happy to label him ‘Public Enemy No. 1’ (yes the suit choice doesn’t match the film, but we’ve not had the Iron-Spider suit since 76108 Sanctum Sanctorum Showdown). Action features would include the van door exploring to reveal everyone’s favourite mutant reptile and some web-attack features.

Sandman Attack!
Suggested price – £45
If there’s one thing about LEGO Marvel sets that’s clear, it’s that the designers love a mech build. On a slight adaptation of this, I’d put forward a Sandman ‘mech’ that’s not dissimilar to 70904 Clayface Splat Attack – this set would also include various attachments for Sandman to use in his fight against Spider-Man (this time, Tobey Maguire) – plus some background scenery to justify the higher price (see 76129 Hydro-Man Attack). In an attempt to show that there’s also a man behind that monstrous pile of coarse, rough and irritating sand, there would also be a Flint Marko minifigure to be pulled from within the mech when he’s been defeated.
Happy Hogan’s Apartment
Suggested price – £30
76200 Bro Thor’s New Asgard was a surprisingly quaint model and it opened up the possibilities for sets that might not necessarily be all action. Hence a set based in Happy’s apartment with Aunt May and Peter Park (Tom Holland) seems perfectly plausible. The kitchen area with robot Dum-E and U would be charming alongside the Stark Industries Fabricator Peter uses to create cures for the villains. Add in as many other glorious details for the abode of Tony Stark’s number two guy as you can fit in, and you’ve got another unexpectedly cool set.
Spiderman and Green Goblin Face-off
Suggested price – £35
As the film comes to an end, only the Green Goblin is left to be cured. This leads to an intensely personal and violent fight between him and Spider-Man. An impressive brick-built glider for the Goblin would mean MJ would be at constant risk as she moves around the set, ideally made up of the bottom of the Statue of Liberty and some public walkways (plus some rubble). Granted it wouldn’t be the most inspired build, but you’re not really here for that, are you? Did I already suggest a two-faced Green Goblin figure to capture the character’s split personality? Now we’re talking.
Final Showdown at the Statue of Liberty
Suggested price – £120
The Statue of Liberty is the setting for the showdown at the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home. We’ve seen this iconic building in brick form before in 70840 Welcome to Apocalypseburg but now this time the top half of the building will be covered in scaffolding to create a playset full of features. Doctor Octopus’s mechanical arms will be designed similarly to those seen in 76178 Daily Bugle, allowing him to crawl over the set as he battles both Tobey Maguire’s and Andrew Garfield’s separate versions of Spider-Man. However he won’t be the only villain: Electro and Sandman (this time with the swirling base piece seen in other sets) will also be causing problems. But Doctor Strange and Ned Jones are on hand to help out – together, they’ll be able to cure these pesky villains of their problems!
Bonus Polybag: Venom’s Vacation
Let me pose a hypothetical scenario. Venom head. Hawaiian shirt. A fresh pina colada cocktail. Okay, perhaps the alcohol is a step too far, but how cute and charming would it be to have a polybag with the final member of the Sinister Six included? Venom has been seen in LEGO minifigure form before, so there’s the chance here to do something fun. The mid-credits scene of Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock being VERY confused in the MCU offers that rare chance to depict something that is purely situational. Holiday Venom gets my vote.
