LEGO KPop Demon Hunters 72537 Derpy Tiger & Sussie Bird revealed

This is how it’s done, done, done as 72537 Derpy Tiger & Sussie Bird is revealed to be the first LEGO KPop Demon Hunters set for the fans…

The LEGO Group has unveiled the first product from the KPop Demon Hunters collection, 72537 Derpy Tiger & Sussie Bird, with more on the way next year.

Set in the bustling metropolis of Seoul and focusing on the colourful world of K-pop music, animated movie KPop Demon Hunters follows the story of Rumi, Zoey and Mira. The trio perform as HUNTR/X by day and battle demons by night. When they’re pitted against a rival group they discover that the Saja Boys are actually demons in disguise working for the villainous Gwi-Ma – and it’s up to the girls to stop them.

The set’s blue tiger is the mythical Derpy, who is always accompanied by Sussie the magpie. Together they deliver messages to Rumi. Derpy takes Rumi on a magical flight down the Han River through the centre of Seoul, in order to meet Jinu. While they may have been sidekicks rather than leads, the adorable magical creatures stole the hearts of fans, especially Derpy’s endearing clumsiness. This set focuses on the pair as they visit Rumi’s penthouse apartment.

Fans will be able to choose from two different expressions to build for Derpy, either giving him his signature goofy grin or letting him deliver a sweet love note from Jinu on his tongue. Both of them can be posed in many different ways, with ball joints allowing Derpy’s head to swivel around. He can also raise his paw to try and fix the flower pot he’s always knocking over. You can pop Sussie on Derpy’s head for a true bird’s-eye view.

Sussie is depicted as appropriately judgemental, staring in consternation as Derpy knocks things over again and again. He features newly printed elements for his six eyes and the details on his wings, as well as wearing the hat – specifically a Korean gat – that he keeps stealing from Derpy.

72537 Derpy Tiger & Sussie Bird also comes with two different love notes and a flowerpot. Each note is based on the ones in KPop Demon Hunters, featuring a cute duck with the messages “Hello friend” and “Save the date” as Rumi’s friendship grows deeper with the mysterious demon, Jinu. These accessories can then be stored in the secret compartment in Derpy’s head when not on display.

At 825 pieces, 72537 Derpy Tiger & Sussie Bird will fit next to some Kpop albums or look amazing beside a lightstick, the cute style reminiscent of the animal mascots that many actual Kpop groups have. Derpy and Sussie are actually inspired by kkachi horangi paintings, a type of Joseon dynasty artwork that literally translates to magpie and tiger, which was satirical in nature, though also a symbol of good fortune. Together they’re going to be golden when the duo release on August 1, 2026.

More LEGO sets are on the way in 2027, and Blocks has been speculating on what they could be, how they could be presented and whether they should use mini-dolls.

Kpop Demon Hunters was an instant success when the Sony Animation Studios flick streamed last year, topping the charts, and has since won multiple awards for its incredible soundtrack, including the Oscars for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song for Golden. And the excitement around KPop Demon Hunters isn’t dying down either, as the sequel has been officially announced and the music continues to inspire fans.
