The LEGO Group and the Metropolitan Museum of Art have collaborated for the release of the next LEGO Art set: 31220 Claude Monet – Bridge over a Pond of Water Lilies.
LEGO Art 31220 Claude Monet – Bridge over a Pond of Water Lilies will come with 3,179 pieces and retail for £179.99 / $249.99 / €199.99, releasing on March 1, 2026, for LEGO Insiders and March 4 for everyone. Remember, you can sign up for a free Insiders account at LEGO.com to get the early access.
The set is being released in partnership with the Metropolitan Museum of Art; the New York museum is home to the original oil painting, which was painted in 1899. Inspired to decorate a pond near his property purchased in 1893 in Giverny, France, Monet created a water-lily garden. Then in 1899, he decided to capture the bridge over the pond via a series of eighteen different views. Twelve of those paintings were ultimately completed. The painting depicted by the new LEGO set is atypical for the series, opting for a vertical format rather than horizontal.
Capturing Monet’s style in LEGO bricks is no easy task, thus an impressive array of elements has been employed across the painting. Foliage elements are of course used in a variety of colours, from leaves to flowers. More bespoke pieces sneak their way in alongside, with bananas, paint brushes and butterflies adding some unique shaping. The bridge itself is composed of more traditional elements — mostly tiles and slopes.
It is a big day for LEGO set reveals – Ideas has unveiled 21366 Floating Sea Otters and Icons has revealed 11376 Ford Model T.

The most widespread technique, though, is the use of bars to mimic brushstrokes. A range of bar elements are clipped onto a brick-built base, enhancing the illusion more than regular plates and tiles can on their own.
“Translating Monet’s brushstrokes into LEGO bricks was a key design challenge,” said Model Designer Stijn Oom. “The team meticulously created a tactile 3D surface by layering tiles and plates in both vertical and horizontal directions, mimicking the brushwork and carefully adapting Monet’s subtle palette of hues within LEGO’s signature colour options. Reimaging the nuance of the original work in LEGO bricks required certain elements of the work to be abstracted, all while preserving essential details of the composition to evoke Monet’s signature artistic style. The build transforms with viewing distance: individual pixels and textures are visible up close, resolving into a peaceful impressionist landscape from afar, mirroring the nature of Monet’s later works.”
Like other LEGO Art sets, 31220 Claude Monet – Bridge over a Pond of Water Lilies can easily be hung on a wall and displayed just the same as a regular framed painting. There’s no way to stand it up fully on its own but setting it on a shelf and leaning it against the wall is a viable option as well. The frame for this set is a simple tan with white matte.
31220 Claude Monet – Bridge over a Pond of Water Lilies will be available from March 1, 2026, for LEGO Insiders members on LEGO.com. LEGO Insiders is free to join, so this is more a symbolic restriction than a true roadblock for anyone wanting to get the set day one. It will then be available to everyone starting on March 4.
