LEGO Icons has revealed the first ever Dragon Ball set – 11390 Dragon Ball: Shenron & Goku is an elegant display model for fans of the manga and anime.
Back in in 1984, when the minifigure had only been around for six years, Akira Toriyama kicked off the manga series Dragon Ball. Its 519 chapters were published in Weekly Shōnen Jump and has since been adapted into a beloved anime series with fans around the world.
11390 Dragon Ball: Shenron & Goku is the first LEGO set based on the story and is part of Icons. It is made up of 1,764 pieces and will retail for £129.99 / $179.99 / €139.99 when it launches on November 1.
Perhaps the most exciting news for Dragon Ball fans is that this is the first set in a new partnership, with more models on the way in the future.
The set constructs an intricate display model of the Eternal Dragon Shenron in a coiled pose, rising from the seven Dragon Balls. It uses advanced building techniques to deliver something unlike previous LEGO dragon sets. Kid Goku is included as a minifigure, ready to be positioned riding the Kintoun or standing alongside Shenron.

Senior Model Designer Jae Won Lee is a longtime Dragon Ball fan and was delighted to work on the set. “The Dragon Ball Shenron is based on the Asian dragon,” he says when unveiling the model at Fan Creator Summit 2026. “So that is why the dragon has four legs. Sometimes in the Dragon Ball manga the dragon is featured very chibi style. That means the cheek and jaw are very special features.”
Jae and his colleagues studied animation frames and classic poses to find a way to capture Shenron’s silhouette and scale into a LEGO form that would be buildable for fans
“Actually the Asian dragon is based on the snake so it’s very hard to make the right connections and then turn, because the LEGO brick is square,” he told Blocks. “It’s very hard to make a curve shape and then I really want to hide the studs on the belly part. I mocked up this set more than 20 times – so we have a lot of sketch models on the shelf. Everybody wants to have the very stunning display model.”
“For me, of course, it was an honour to be able to portray such an iconic character in pop culture in general,” says Element Designer Nicola Belfiore. “It can be really complicated, there’s a lot of challenges when portraying such an iconic image that I think everybody has in their brain when they think about Dragon Ball.”
Graphic Designer Melody Flores confirms that the minifigure has newly decorated torso, leg and head elements, which combine with the new wig that Nicola has sculpted for Kid Goku.
“We were really considering the balance for the display. We make it compact and it’s easier to move,” Jae adds, demonstrating how easy it is to lift the model.
The set is the second reveal from Fan Creator Summit 2026, following 50090 LEGOLAND Park Adventure. Jae has previously designed another iconic dragon – 10375 How to Train Your Dragon, which he discusses in detail here.
