We are looking for freelancers to contribute to Blocks magazine. We’re looking for people with a journalism background or LEGO fans with a real flair for writing and desire to meet journalistic standards.
Reviews
Can you write great reviews of LEGO sets and also photograph them against a pure white background to a professional standard? Then we want to hear from you. We’re looking to expand our review team with knowledgable LEGO fans. This is probably our most challenging role at Blocks, so we’re looking for people who are ready to meet really demanding standards.
You’ll need to know your stuff when it comes to building LEGO sets – is a build experience better or worse than the standard? Is that technique impressive? Does this model accurately capture a movie design?
Reviewing LEGO sets means building to a deadline, delivering concise copy that fairly assesses the model and build experience, providing professional standard photos that can be printed in the magazine. It’s challenging, but very rewarding. With every set you build and then write about it, your level of LEGO expertise will increase and you’ll surprise yourself with how much you learn about the LEGO System.

Feature writers
Blocks is an English language magazine so, unsurprisingly, you’ll need an excellent command of the English language.
Feature writers will be responsible for coming up with compelling features between 1,000 and 2,000 words focused on LEGO intersecting with real life. Past topics have included why play is good for adults, LEGO bricks being used by scientists at the Natural History Museum, a student who built a LEGO compatible prosthetic prototype and mental health professionals sharing their expertise through digestible LEGO scenes.
We’re looking for someone who’s proactive and eager to hunt down fascinating stories that Blocks readers will love.
As long as you have an interest in the subject matter and a way with words, we’re keen to hear from you. This could be a great opportunity for someone who hasn’t got a great deal of experience yet. If you’ve got dozens of bylines to your name though, we want to hear from you too!

Builders
We’re also on the look-out for LEGO builders. We need people who can build amazing creations – experts in nice parts usage who can work to a deadline. You don’t need to be building the biggest ever MOCs all the time, but be able to turn your hand to pretty much any subject matter going.
You’ll need to be able to photograph your models in front of a pure white background to a professional standard.

Online contributors
If you’re a LEGO fan with a talent for writing and know your SNOT from your AFOL, then there are also openings to develop your skills while writing opinion pieces and quick reads for the Blocks website.
