Black Sabbath on stage at LEGOLAND Discovery Centre Birmingham

Black Sabbath are about to supernaut their way into LEGOLAND Discovery Centre Birmingham as they celebrate with a unique display.

LEGOLAND Discovery Centre Birmingham, situated in the heart of the UK city, is celebrating the final Black Sabbath concert with a tribute to the city’s most famous rock icon – Ozzy Osborne. The lead vocalist in Black Sabbath, the singer and songwriter helped redefine rock music. Black Sabbath have created numerous iconic songs including Paranoid, Supernaut and Iron Man. Debuting in 1968, the group are largely recognised as the creators of the heavy metal genre and have sold more than 75 million albums worldwide.

Throughout the group’s history they’ve taken inspiration from the occult and horror-inspired lyrics to create these heavy metal tracks. And now metal is going plastic in the LEGOLAND Discovery Centre Birmingham. A new area in Miniland has a miniature Villa Park, the venue where Black Sabbath will take their final hometown bow and it stars a mic-wielding Ozzy Osborne, complete with signature round specs, flowing locks and stained glass windows.

Built by the Centre’s talented Master Builders, it gives fans of all ages the opportunity to see the Prince of LEGO Darkness up close, alongside other iconic Birmingham landmarks. It coincides with the band being given freedom of the city by the Mayor of Birmingham, with other tributes including engravings in the Council House and the members helping to complete a mural on Navigation Street.

“Black Sabbath are true Birmingham icons, and this felt like the perfect way to honour their final hometown show,” said Amy Langham, General Manager of LEGOLAND Discovery Centre Birmingham. “Our Master Model Builders had great fun bringing Ozzy and the band to life in LEGO form – and we hope it strikes a chord with Sabbath fans young and old.”

While the band is most prominently known for charting in the 70s and 80s, a recent ballet was created to help a younger audience find their music. Black Sabbath – The Ballet is choreographed to their most famous songs and even has some voiceover from the band members, with certain scenes taking inspiration from key moments in their lives. And with Black Sabbath returning to Birmingham for a final show, so too is the ballet returning to the Birmingham Royal Ballet later in 2025.

LEGO fans can rock up and see the miniature metal-heads from Tuesday, 1st July at the LEGOLAND Discovery Centre Birmingham. The Master Model Builders promise no bats were harmed in the making of this model.
